Esci no longer exist, their models are getting hard to find. A major loss to the 1/72 scale. But, you can some time find the kits in the shops and shows. Where are the old moulds? Lost? Fortunate not all !!!! --- See the Italeri page for re-release from a lot of old Esci/Ertl kits

Kits from early series - (Revell/Esci - H2300 series)
Possibly as early as 1975 Revell Germany started to produce The Esci Armor 1/72 kits. They had the usual Revell "H" numbering, starting with the
PzKfw II (H-2300).
They were packed in the well known sturdy two part Revell boxes. These are famous for not having any staples or glue : they are simply
folded together and can be made flat easily without any damage to the box. They are verry strong and when empty many are re-used for spare parts or other
kits. They were mainly sold in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Holland and many survive.
They were actually the first Esci kits with full box art and as with the original Esci 8000 series, the landscapes were painted behind the exsisting
Esci whitebox 8000 series vehicle/soldiers picture. However the Revell series full color landscapes are all different from the later Esci full color
8000 series releases but equally beautiful ! People with keen eyesight will also spot subtle differences in the vehicles pictures too, the M4A1
Sherman being a good study object for boxart detail variaty : it was released by various manufacturors in at least 12 different boxes (currently
by Italeri) !!!
The verry early Revell Esci H-2300 releases had a plain carton/white underside but a little later they were all released with the same color profiles
at the bottom as the Esci 8000 Armor series. Again details could change, especially the colors !
The PzKfW IV G (H-2359) and the Sherman Calliope
(H-2360) were the last releases in the two part boxes and they regrettably had the plain white undersides again. (I do hope to stand corrected on
this one !!).
The three issues after
that : the Diorama Accessories (H-2361), the Japanese Soldiers (H-2362) and the Iwo Jima Marines (H-2363) only appear in the normal Esci full color
8000 series flipopen boxes and they carry a "REVELL ESCI MODEL" logo sticker at the box top corner and/or sides, usually together with the "H" number.
The Bishop (H-2344) and the Churchill AMRCR (H-2349) were later releases and also got the normal Esci 8000 box with the Revell stickers. (I only have
seen the AMRCR confirmed).
Untill 1980/81 also other normal Esci 8000 kits are seen with the Revell stickers. (Confirmed is the Hetzer).
Revell Esci kitnumbers H-2335 and H-2350 are not used and also not found in any kitlist. The Wirbelwind, Sherman M4A3 and Brummbar are listed untill
1981 in the Esci catalogi as H-2364, 65 and 66 respectively but I have never seen them with Revell stickers...
In the European Revell catalogi they appear in the 1976, 77, and 78 issues.
The H-2300 Revell Esci series is verry appealing and collectible due to
their strong boxes and a complete series makes for a nice collection. They still are often up for sale at reasonable prices.

Historical Info
The Esci Ertl "greenband" series were produced from 1996 onwards up to 1999 when the final two armor releases came from China. They were packaged in
America and probably moulded there too, ususally in pale yellow plastic and often a lot of flash. Instuctions often look like photocopies of the
earlier redband isues. The instructions and/or the decals carry a production date. The kits produced are a random outtake of the 8300 series.
(same numbers too). The series also includes a Merkava and a M 901 Vulcan 20mm AA.......Alfred van Netburg, august 2010

Esci kits released under "Humbrol" label
Esci-Humbrol History
The Humbrol-Esci series started approximately in 1991. The boxart was the same as the Humbrol Heller aircraft 1/72 series : a picture of a finnished
model on a yellow orange floor. Verry ugly but boxart was like that in the early nineties.
The series was short lived, at the most two years but they don't seem to be rare. They are numbered HK 72201 - HK 72213......Alfred van Netburg august 2010

Esci kits released before 8000 serien and under "Polistil-Hobby and Armor-Esci" label
The Esci Armor Polistil story
Esci started to produce 1/72 armor kit together with Polistil from 1976 untill 1978. These kits are basicly the same as the regular 8000 Armor whitebox
and full color releases. The boxart has some complicated differences I will try to discuss them chronologicly. See also the Esci Armor history on the
8000 series elsewere on the Esci pages. Most of them were sold in France and Italy and they are not particulary rare*, although not always recognised as
different kits from the normal series...
With the early whitebox "Armor" logo kits a POLISTIL logo sticker is put on the front of the box. With the whitebox "flag" kits and the "black square"
series kits things get complicated : They can have a POLISTIL logo sticker, a POLISTIL logo print or a POLISTIL HOBBY logo print... In general the "flag"
series have very mixed logos and the "black square" series usually have the POLISTIL HOBBY logo print. The POLISTIL logo sticker is seen throughout the
series instead of a print.
The full color boxart 8000 series with the colorprofile backs (that's a mouthfull !) are again another story. Up untill 8054 they are confirmed to have
a POLISTIL HOBBY ESCI logo print on the front and sides of the box were usually the normal ESCI logo is printed.
From then on a white POLISTIL logo sticker appears randomly on the later full color 8000 series; confirmed are the PzKfw II F (8003), the Kingtiger
(8008), and the SdKfz 251/16 Flamm (8055).
Sofar I have not seen POLISTIL logo's on any "redbox" series either 8000 or 8300 series. I hope with this information I have shed some light on this
complicated subject of Esci history
*P.S. : The POLISTIL HOBBY logo print also appeared in the large Diorama Battlescene series with the white edges.
These are verry rare !

Esci kits released under "AMT-ERTL" label
AMT produced a few Esci kits in 1989 and 1990 including two combination kits with soldiers. Emphasis on modern subjects. Mainly sold in north
America/Canada. They have their own nice boxart and instruction leaflets. Decals are sometimes a little different from their mainstream Esci 8300
series counterparts. Some kits carry production dates and they have their own kitnumbers.
They are not rare but the combikits are not often seen.
The M 113 ACAV was only available in the combination kit with modern soldiers from Esci (8601) or AMT-Esci (8648). The M 113 With ACAV guns/armor was
never issued as a single kit from Esci untill it was eventually re-issued as an Italeri kit.----

Esci kits released under unknown "Soldat" label
The Esci "S" or SOLDAT kits have a red square S or SOLDAT logo printed on the boxfront. On some kits this is done with a sticker (8049 Churchill AMRCR).
These kits were produced and sold in Spain in the early eighties as they use the 8000 series white edge box with same boxart on both sides.
Front of box states : Made in Spain in fine black print and sometimes also on the insstructions on the decal page. It is not clear how many kits
are in this series. They are not often seen and somewhat rarer than the Polistil/Hobby issues.---------
Alfred van Netburg, august 2010
Esci kits under Hasegawa label
Hasegawa pruduced a large series of Esci kits in 1975 and 1976 with The SdKfz 250/10 as highest Esci number (8051). The kits with the soldiers have
smaller flipopen boxes and their backsides show a combination picture with a Hasegawa kit. The Armor kits are the same size flipopen box as the
Esci-Armor series and have the same color profiles at the backside.
The numbering of the kits is typicly confusing Japanese style : kit Afrika Korps Soldiers front of box states : Minibox E series No. 17 . on the side
of the box is : Kit No. MB-117 : 250.
The last three numbers on Japanese kits is usually a production run series number (examples: 100, 150, 250, 300 etc). To confuse further on the
side-edge is : Hasegawa E17.
In short the kitnumbers run from 01 to 45 as stated on the page.
Sofar I have not found a Hasegawa catalogue that lists these kits. They seem te be widely sold in Japan and
also exported to America. As Japanese kit collectors hold on to these old kits they are hard to find.---------Alfred van Netburg , august 2010
November 2008: Mikio Aida and Yasuo Saito, both from Japan, has informed that in the period 1975 until 1979 Hasegawa has issued 45 Esci kits in total as next:
