Dragon has previously released 1/72 scale plastic kits of the Panzer IV family, but this is the very first of the Ausf.D. Thus, it’s a 100% newly tooled kit. By judiciously combining smart engineering and slide-mold technology, the number of parts to assemble has been reduced to a minimum. For example, the road wheels and track run are made as one piece. Indeed, these parts only need to be plugged into the hull suspension units and glued and, hey presto, they’re finished! This is a completely new idea from Dragon to ease assembly in every possible way without sacrificing one iota of detail. Indeed, modelers will be able to enjoy their craft more than ever without wasting time on repetitive tasks. The Panzer Ausf.D was an early member of the family, but Dragon has applied the latest technology to it!
Dragon is proud to announce a new 1/72 scale hybrid kit, the fruit of cooperation with Lexa Models. It’s the second such collaborative kit, and it represents a stunning rendition of the 3.7cm FlaK 43 Flakpanzer IV “Ostwind”. This new Dragon 1/72 self-propelled antiaircraft gun benefits from the inclusion of 3D-printed parts from Lexa Models. The first such cooperative kit with 3D elements was the Sherman Calliope that received a hearty response from the market, and this Flakpanzer will be no different. Indeed, the detail of the 3D-printed parts is simply amazing! The brand new and complete turret is printed in this way along with a selection of photo-etched parts for the turret and gun shield. There’s no other kit like it available on the market, with modern technology bringing the highest imaginable standards to modelers.

Dragon’s brand new kit appropriately portrays an Early-Production command variant of the Tiger I. Dragon had released a 1/72 scale kit of such a variant before, but it used older-generation parts. However, such a famous historical tank deserves the ultimate level of accuracy and highest quality, and that is what Dragon has done with this item. A huge amount of attention has been paid on getting all the details of this newly tooled command tank just right, and of course the Cartograf decal markings for the 88 kill marks on the gun barrel are included as well. These barrel rings illustrated the power of the Tiger I as well as the skill of tank ace Wittmann. Indeed, Dragon confidently asserts that this is the ultimate depiction of any Tiger I kit released in 1/72 scale to date.
