Australian Vehicles - 1/76 Scale

This vehicles are really unique in his scale. For sofar I know have no other manufacturer this vehicles released.

Australian Carrier 3inch mortar

ostau/AC3inch01.jpg ostau/AC3inch02.jpg ostau/AC3inch03.jpg ostau/AC3inch04.jpg

The 3-inch Mortar carrier had the same basic hull and specifications as the 2-pdr Anti-Tank Carrier. The fighting compartment contained the main arnament, an "Ordnance, ML, 3-inch Mortar". This could project a 9.6-pound H.E. bomb at an M.V. of 620 fps to a distance of 2,790 yards. The mortar was mounted on a revolving turntable fixed to the floor of the compartment, and could be traversed through 360-degrees.

Australian 2-pdr Anti-Tank Carrier

ostau/AC2pdr01.jpg ostau/AC2pdr02.jpg ostau/AC2pdr03.jpg ostau/AC2pdr04.jpg

The 2-pdr Anti-Tank Carrier was born from a percieved necessity to give greater mobility to anti-tank guns. The answer was to mount the then standard anti-tank gun, the 2-pdr QF, onto a suitable modified MG Carrier hull.

Russian Vehicles - 1/76 Scale

In the year that the BT-masters are made, the models were unique in his scale, but they are overruled by the plastic BT-line from UM in 1/72 scale.

Japanese armour seems not so popular compared with US and German vehicles, however once you start studying it, you will be amazed about the large variety of vehicles and prototypes.

French Vehicles - 1/72 Scale

Early Master

Haevy Tank Char FCM 2C

ostfr/fcm01.jpg ostfr/fcm02.jpg ostfr/fcm03.jpg ostfr/fcm04.jpg

During World War I the Frech had issued a specification for a heavy "breakthrough" tank, Char de Rupture C, at a weight of about 40 tons. Two prototypes, Chars 1A and 1B were produced in 1917-18. Then, later development produced an even heavier tank -nearly 70 tons in weight. This was the Char 2C. It did not become operational during the war, but 10 were built, the last being delivered in 1922. In their day they were the most powerful tanks in the world, with a crew of twelve, a 75mm gun in the front turret and four machine gun (one in an auxiliary turret at the rear of the tank). One of them was converted to mount a 155mm howitzer as well as the 75mm and the four machine guns and led some Intelligence circles to think that France was building large numbers of "Super Tanks". The Char 2C had two 250 hp Mercedes engines driving electric generators to run a motor for each track and give the tank a top speed of 8 mph.

All of this tanks were destroyed in 1940, when they were being transported to the front by train.
FM2C n° 92 and 95 have been destroyed by their crew after they broke down. The other 6 tanks have been transported by rail south of Neufchateau. They have been subject of air attack but without damage. All the tanks have been sabotaged by their crew since they could'nt be dismounted from their rail transport cars. (the rails were on an abutment and the rail track was curved).

Note from Mr. Anker Fuglsang:

Why it is so hard to get Ostmodels Kits on the moment!

"Thanks for your interest. I am only able to accept orders for Ostmodels products at particular times during the year.

Ostmodels is a small hobby business, which I run in my spare time. My main profession, a primary (elementary school) principal and co-ordinating principal for a cluster of eight schools here in Southern Tasmania, generally leaves me little time during the working week. Over the years I have tried to keep supply up to distributors, by having casting done offshore, but have generally failed dismally with the volumes expected. While I maintain an association with a couple of distributors on an order basis, (miniature-park.com, and atlantisalliance.com) the solution to the problem and stress of not being able to meet demand for me now is not to advertise, and accept orders only when I am in a position to complete them in a reasonable time.
This being the case, it is best for those who would like my models to check on availability before ordering via e-mail so that I can provide a reasonable service.

The times when I can fill orders are: December 28th - February 12th ; The week following Easter, whenever it falls during the year (April 9th- 14th in 2007);
June 4th -16th; September 3rd -15th. These dates coincide with school holidays. I often have stock and the capacity to fill small orders, but please inquire first.

I hope that this is helpful."
By providing this information I hope that customers understand exactly why it is so hard to get Ostmodels kits. At the moment I am also only sending out information about a smaller range.

With my thanks! Anker Fuglsang. (January 2007)
